I’m Sister Leslie, I’m happily married to Pastor John Pogue. Together we have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. October 2025, we celebrated 20 years of wedded bliss. I came to Freedom In Christ Church 22 years ago searching for the Lord and found Him here and it completely changed my life! God has completely given me a path that I never imagined possible before. Being in the ministry with my husband is the most gratifying thing I have ever done. I love every minute of it! I remember building the gymnasium thinking “Great! we now have a place for weddings and funerals gatherings after those special services. Then within a week after the ribbon cutting ceremony the Lord put the vision into Pastor John’s heart so very strong that we would have a school the following year. A lot of people would say that that wasn’t possible within a year, but here at Freedom In Christ Church we know that ALL things are possible for those who believe. God put all the pieces of the puzzle together and viola we were open the nest August with 45 students. Now we are in our 4th year of the school, and we have 74 students that we get to minster to! God is good!!
I love our FCA school so much! We know the families we have here; we have prayed them in. God knows what families can benefit from our school. We love each & every one of these kids and have awesome, wonderful families who love us also! We are truly Brothers and Sisters here at FCA and that’s exactly what we teach these children. Here at this school, we take pride in teaching these children to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ himself! We honor and do the Pledge of Allegiance daily and sing the Star-Spangled Banner. We are all friends and have a 0% tolerance for any bullying. We know we have something special here at this school! Also, what I love about our school is, we don’t just push through when they don’t understand their work. They must have an 80% or higher to move on to the next pace. It’s a wonderful program. We use the A.C.E. curriculum and it’s great for reading comprehension. Our school has had a total of 94.2 and 94.4 GPA the last two years. I’d say we are doing really well. We are growing for sure, and we have a lot to offer here.
My favorite memories are when I get to greet the students each and every morning. I open the door and welcome them in. Lots of children want to give me hugs and want to tell me about their weekend, or evening, or they want to show me their new school shoes or whatever. I have a great relationship with the FCA kids. Most of them wave to me throughout the day, or want to give me high-fives, or just get me attention when I walk by. Sometimes I even interact with them by playing basketball with them. I also love Friday’s because in the mornings after announcements and Pastor Dane’s message, we do praise and worship. This is an intimate time that we all do together! It’s a great way to send them off to class. We’ve had kids give their hearts to God at this time. It’s just really special. All I can say is I LOVE FCA and I look forward to seeing where God is going to take us from here. Come join our family!
